RASP Project

State-of-the-art literature review: The RASP Project

As part of a funded project to improve care of the older patient by non-internist physicians, the American Geriatrics Society has published a monograph that includes a literature review of the state-of-the-art knowledge base in anesthesiology (written by Dr. David Cook at the Mayo Clinic), emergency medicine, general surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology and rehabilitation medicine. In addition, a final chapter is devoted to issues in geriatric care that involve many of these specialties; for example, postoperative delirium, the stress response to surgery, assessment of clinical outcomes, and ethics. The entire monograph can be viewed online at http://www.frycomm.com/ags/rasp/
