EDUCATION
Since 1995 ABC has provided educational
seminars throughout the country on an annual basis. We’ve also
collaborated with other organizations such as AmSECT (American Society
for Extra-Corporeal Technology) and NATA (Network for the Advancement of
Transfusion Alternatives).
ABC refined their objectives for educational programs to focus on formal
program development. A conference on Developing and Maintaining a Viable
Blood Conservation Program introduced our new educational format.
ABC is available to assist in organizing and presenting a blood
conservation educational program in your area. For more information
contact us.
STANDARDS-OF-CARE
ABC is the primary resource
for the development and implementation of formal blood conservation
programs!
Want to know how your program measures up? Want to develop a formal
blood conservation program? Want to expand your program to include blood
conservation or blood management?
The ABC standards are a benchmark that provides the foundation,
framework and infrastructure of a formal program.
The accreditation process provides assessment and evaluation of program
performance and awards accreditation to those programs that demonstrate
compliance with the standards.

“Accreditation is a status
of public recognition awarded to a program that has demonstrated
compliance with the standards set forth.”
ABC accreditation is voluntary and is performed for a fee. How is it
obtained?
-
The institution must be a
member of ABC
-
The bloodless/blood
conservation program must be at least one year old.
-
The Association for Blood
Conservation Administrative and Practice Standards with additional
information on the survey agenda, who should be involved etc., may
be requested to assist in preparing for the survey. The cost of the
standards manual is deducted from the total survey cost.
-
When you are ready for a
survey a contract will be provided and an onsite visit by an
evaluation team will be scheduled.
